Educator Spotlight – Meet Tara Lord!

White woman with dark hair pulled into bun on top of head, smiling holding a book and a robot

“My name is Tara Lord and I am our technology resource teacher here at Bethel Elementary School. For any educator that is unsure about introducing any sort of computer science within their classroom I would encourage them to just jump in and try it! It may seem scary at first but it’s worth it for the students. Most teachers are already doing computer science without even realizing it.”

“Within my classroom it’s important that the students are able to work collaboratively and cooperatively, make connections, and also become effective communicators.”

“I am lucky enough to have opportunities to expand on the computer science standards daily in my room. I also have the freedom to have a Girls who Code group to help those female students feel empowered and encouraged when it comes to coding. Within my classroom it’s important that the students are able to work collaboratively and cooperatively, make connections, and also become effective communicators. I am proud to be the technology teacher and truly believe it’s the best job in the school! I mean, seriously? What other job truly prepares students for the fast paced world of technology?!”
