CodeVA and the Dominion Energy Charity Classic Birdies for Charity Program

9 August, 2017

As part of our ongoing mission to bring equitable computer science education to all of Virginia’s students, CodeVA is pleased to announce our participation in the 2017 Dominion Energy Classic Birdies for Charity Program. The Birdies for Charity program gives charities an opportunity to raise funds two ways. Donors can choose a flat donation or pledge an amount per “birdie” made by PGA TOUR champions during the tournament.

To donate click HERE. From there you can select a one-time fixed donation (minimum $25) or a score-based (per birdie) donation, like a walk-a-thon, but this is a golf-a-thon! In addition to the amounts generously pledged by donors, the PGA TOUR will donate an additional 10 percent on donations! For those making per Birdie pledges, in 2016 there were 584 Birdies made by 54 players during the competition rounds. So at the conclusion of the tournament, a pledge of 10 cents per Birdie would have resulted in a $58.40 donation to your charity of choice.

This year our tournament will have 72 players, so the number of Birdies made during competition rounds will likely be greater. Keep this in mind when pledging per birdie, and please note there is also an option to cap your donation.

Fill out the billing information form, one-time flat donations will be processed immediately, and per-birdie donations will be processed after the tournament when the number of birdies made during competition rounds is determined. A confirmation email will be sent and will serve as a receipt for tax-deduction purposes. Donations also can be made by check. Checks must be made out to PGA TOUR Charities Inc., with the specific charity listed in the memo line. Please mail checks to:

PGA TOUR Charities Inc.

*Note: Score-based donations can only be made using a credit card. One-time, fixed donations can be made using a credit card or check.

Additionally CodeVA’s three highest donors will receive two tickets, good for any day, to the Dominion Energy Charity Classic at the Country Club of Virginia’s James River Course October 19th – 22nd.

We hope you will join us in participating in the Birdies for Charity program and we will see you on the links!
