Educator Spotlight in CS: R. Erin Comninaki

“Observing students collaborating, using computational thinking strategies, and engaging in authentic learning opportunities convinced me further that computer science is for all students, and students are eager to learn more in this field.”

“This year I was able to bring in CS opportunities to the middle school where I work with a 6th grade Innovations class. Students used a variety of robots to construct programs to complete tasks, created a virtual reality experience for new students to the building, and became “Techs in Training” by identifying hardware components of a chromebook and performing basic repairs. Observing students collaborating, using computational thinking strategies, and engaging in authentic learning opportunities convinced me further that computer science is for all students, and students are eager to learn more in this field. I’m excited to continue to grow CS offerings at the middle school, and encourage educators to integrate the computer science standards in their classroom.”
