We invite every Elementary school in Virginia to host their own Family Code Night.
And every elementary family to join the fun!

CodeVA has partnered with California based nonprofit Family Code Night to bring a quick and easy way for parents and kids to try out computer science.

At Family Code Nights, parents pair up with their children to do their first hour of coding, together. The effect is amazing: big turnouts, great fun, inspiration – plus the personal engagement of happy, motivated parents, a unique and largely untapped force in K-8 computer science education. The community shares this delightful evening experience and is left eager for more, at school and at home.

Family participation is a simple but profound innovation in this event – it changes the trajectory of a child’s computer-science learning, and the family’s appreciation and support for that learning. The result is a powerfully mobilized community and new momentum and direction to drive future computer science learning.
