Governor visits Danville in special week highlighting role of computing in education

The Governor of Virginia visited and toured the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research on Tuesday morning as part of Computer Science Education Week.

The governor’s visit was part of his tour of the state to encourage students to become interested in computer science, and to expand opportunities for computer science education in all parts of Virginia.

The Governor spoke to more than 150 Dan River Region students at the Institute, including those from Westwood Middle School, Piedmont Governor’s School for Math, Science and Technology, and the Academy for Engineering and Technology.
